What are some of the unique challenges Texans face when opposing industrial projects in their area? Since 2015, the state legislature has worked to make the environmental permitting process faster for applicants, straining the ability of community groups to effectively fight them. This includes shortening the window the public has to comment and request hearings against applications, as well as limiting the overall length of any given hearing to a period of six months.
